Following the confirmation of Deputy Secretary of the Interior Department, Katharine MacGregor, a long-time oil and gas proponent, Alex Cohen, Government Affairs Director at Alaska Wilderness League, released the following statement:
“From Trump term one, we already know Katharine MacGregor’s confirmation will be a disaster for Alaska’s lands, waters, and wildlife. She’s spent her career doing Big Oil’s bidding, and putting her at Interior again is like handing the keys to Alaska’s wildest places—like the Arctic Refuge, Western Arctic, and the proposed Ambler Road industrial corridor—straight to the fossil fuel industry. We need leaders who will stand up for our public lands and the communities that depend on them, not another industry insider ready to carve up our wild places for profit.”
