Alaska Wilderness League and Alaska Wilderness League Action (together, “Alaska Wilderness”, “we” or “us”) are independent, non-profit organizations with a shared mission to further the protection of Alaska’s incomparable natural wonders. We are committed to protecting your privacy online. This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) applies to alaskawild.org and alaskawildaction.org (together, the “Sites”). You are advised to consult the “Privacy Policy” link on the Sites each time you visit. Your continued use either or both Sites constitutes your agreement to the Policy, as it may be amended from time to time.

Information Collection and Use
Alaska Wilderness collects information from our users and donors at several different points on our Sites, and certain data are collected automatically when you use the Sites. Depending on how you interact with the Sites, data that we collect include your name, mailing address, email address, and other similar information that identities or relates to you as an identifiable person. In addition, we may collect certain technical data, including internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, device identifiers, geolocation information, and similar information about the technology or devices you use to access our Sites.

We use the information we collect to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our Sites, and to help us make our Sites more useful to visitors.

Alaska Wilderness League and/or Alaska Wilderness League Action are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. Alaska Wilderness League and Alaska Wilderness League Action may share your information with each other and with other allied organizations that may be of interest to our supporters. Alaska Wilderness will not share, rent, or disclose your information with or to third parties except as described in this Policy.

Registration for AlaskaWild Update Newsletter
In order to receive this e-mail newsletter, a user must first complete a registration form. This same form is used for requesting more information from Alaska Wilderness. During registration a user is asked to give their contact information such as name, mailing address, and email address. This information is used to contact the user about the services on our site for which they have expressed interest.

Membership/Donation Form
We request information from the user on our membership/donation form. Here a user must provide contact information (like name and shipping address) and financial information (like credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill customer’s orders. If we have trouble processing an order, this contact information is used to get in touch with the user. We use an outside credit card processing company to bill users for goods and services. These companies do not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes. Donor information will never be shared with other groups except in a manner consistent with this Policy.

Log Files
We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information on the Sites. The information gathered is used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas. We use the information we collect to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, and to help us make our site more useful to visitors.

Outside services
From time to time Alaska Wilderness may partner with one or more other parties to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.

Surveys & Contests
From time to time our site requests information from users via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip code, age level). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site.

Online Profile Updates and Donations
If you complete the Profile update form and share your personally identifying information, this information will be used only to provide you with more targeted content. We may use your contact information to send further information about our organization or to contact you when necessary. You may always opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the “Opt Out” section below.

Sending us an Email
You also may decide to send us personally identifying information, for example, in an electronic mail message containing a question or comment, or by filling out a Web form that provides us this information. We use personally identifying information from email primarily to respond to your requests. We may forward your email to other employees who are better able to answer you questions. We may also use your email to contact you in the future about our programs that may be of interest.

Tell-A-Friend
If a user elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our Sites, we ask them for the friend’s name and e-mail address. Alaska Wilderness will automatically send the friend a one-time e-mail inviting them to visit the Sites. Alaska Wilderness stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time e-mail.

Links
This Sites may contain links to other websites. Please be aware that Alaska Wilderness League and Alaska Wilderness League Action are not responsible for the privacy practices of other such sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This Policy applies solely to information collected by the Sites identified herein.

Use of Cookies, Tracking, and Analytics
In some cases, our Sites may allow third parties to use cookies, web beacons (or “pixel tags”), and similar technologies to collect or receive information from your website and elsewhere on the internet and use that information to provide measurement services and target ads. If you want to opt out of the collection and use of your information for ad targeting, you can visit www.aboutads.info/choices, see what organizations are tracking this information and optout.

Security
We take every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit sensitive information via the Sites, your information is protected both online and off-line.

When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry – SSL. While on a secure page, such as our membership/donation form which is housed on a third-party secure server, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to unlocked, or open, when you are just ‘surfing’.

While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information.

Correction/Updating Personal Information
If a user’s personally identifiable information changes (such as your zip code or e-mail), or if a user no longer desires our service, we will endeavor to provide a way to correct, update or remove that user’s personal data provided to us. This can usually be done by emailing the appropriate contact on our Contact page. You may also phone or write the Alaska Wilderness offices with your request. In addition, taking an online action with Alaska Wilderness and using the corrected contact information should update our database.

Notification of Changes
If we decide to change this Policy, we will post the updated “Privacy Policy” links on our Sites so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under which circumstances, if any, we disclose it.

Accessibility
The Sites are designed to be accessible to visitors with disabilities, and to comply with federal guidelines concerning accessibility. We welcome your comments. If you have suggestions on how to make the Sites more accessible, please contact us at info@alaskawild.org.
