Alaska Wilderness League Supports Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management

Laura Daniel Davis’ Will Help to Address Role of Public Lands in Curbing Effects of Climate Change

Washington, D.C. – The Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources held a business meeting today to consider a pending nomination and pending legislation.

Statement by Kristen Miller, conservation director of Alaska Wilderness League:

“Alaska Wilderness League strongly supports the long overdue nomination of Laura Daniel Davis as Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management. She has the experience and commitment to address the complex challenges facing our nation under the jurisdiction of the Department of the Interior. In this role, she will be an essential part of implementing Secretary Haaland’s and President Biden’s ambitious agenda to fight the climate crisis, and we look forward to her continued leadership in addressing the role of our nation’s public lands in curbing the rampant effects of climate change, diversifying the nation’s energy portfolio, protecting imperiled wildlife, expanding recreation opportunities, and breaking down barriers so all Americans can fully benefit from our nation’s public lands, waters and coasts. We call on the Senate to bring her nomination to the floor and pass it.”
