Important update: Thank you to all of you who give to Alaska Wilderness League. Congress has recently made available several new measures designed to make charitable giving easier and even more attractive. The first, a so-called universal deduction, established a new above-the-line deduction for total charitable contributions up to $300. This applies to all taxpayers for their 2020 contributions and can be claimed on tax forms next year. Additionally, Congress has lifted the existing cap on annual contributions for those who itemize, raising it from 60% of adjusted gross income to 100% for individuals, and from 10% to 25% for corporations. Check with your tax preparer for more information, or if you’re a do-it-yourselfer with your taxes, our Director of Development, Chris Konish (firstname.lastname@example.org) can direct you to some online resources for more information as well.
