Following the House passage of the Budget Reconciliation Bill, Kristen Miller, Executive Director at Alaska Wilderness League, released the following statement:

“While we are relieved and grateful that harmful provisions related to the Western Arctic and Ambler Road were removed from the Budget Reconciliation bill that finally passed the House, deeply troubling language targeting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge remains. Congress is moving forward with a reckless plan that would fast-track drilling in one of the most iconic and ecologically vital landscapes on Earth. This legislation would silence Indigenous voices, shut the public out of the process, and strip away the legal tools communities depend on to protect their homelands. Removing the Arctic Refuge from this bill is not only necessary—it’s a fight we will never back down from.”
