Burgum Moves to Revive Arctic Drilling, Selling Out Public Lands to Billionaires

Following this week’s Secretarial Orders issued by DOI Secretary Doug Burgum, Kristen Miller, Executive Director of Alaska Wilderness League, released the following statement: 

“In just days, Burgum has proven he’s nothing more than a puppet for Trump’s excessive giveaways to billionaires,” said Kristen Miller, executive director at Alaska Wilderness League. “The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is an unparalleled piece of our nation’s public lands, the cultural homeland to the Gwich’in people, and a last safe place for threatened polar bears. Burgum’s Secretarial Order to revive canceled leases in the beloved Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is yet another shameless policy that serves only to line corporate executive pockets while robbing every American of their nation’s conservation legacy.”
