The Western Arctic can’t catch a break.  

The oil industry is working to expand its foothold in the Western Arctic and once again, the Trump administration is making it easier for industry while making it harder for the public to have a say. 

Right now, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is considering both a proposed rule and a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that could weaken oversight, limit environmental review, speed up oil and gas approvals, and reduce opportunities for the public to weigh in. 

It’s not a coincidence that these two major proposals are moving forward at the same time. This administration is once again bending over backward for their friends in Big Oil  

Right now, we have the opportunity to speak directly to the BLM about what’s at stake.  

BLM is hosting TWO virtual public hearings where you can testify about these proposed changes:  

• September 23, 2026 | 1:00 – 4:00 pm ET/10:00am – 1:00pm PT 

• September 24, 2026 | 5:00 – 8:00pm ET/2:00-5:00pm PT
