Bristol Bay Protected!

Thanks to supporters like you, the Alaska Wilderness League has helped make sure the salmon-rich waters of Alaska’s Bristol Bay will be protected from development. See President Obama announce this exciting news here, and please share this great news on Facebook:

The League brought a lawsuit in 2007 against the Bush administration over their desire to develop the vibrant Bristol Bay. We won and secured temporary protections for this salmon haven. On December 16, 2014 President Obama withdrew Bristol Bay from oil and gas leasing, protecting one of the world’s most bountiful fisheries and the jobs that it provides. At the same time President Obama’s action preserves the livelihoods, well-being, and age-old traditions of the region’s communities. Bristol Bay’s waters sustain an incredible abundance of salmon and other fish as well as wildlife including millions of seabirds and waterfowl and 25 species of marine mammals.
